Get bitter or get better.

27 Aug

I’m horrible with breakups. I think it’s an extension of my clumsy nature – i just can’t contain my feelings in my body, i tremble and fear, and beat myself up over fears, real and imagined.

It is called a break up because it’s broken. It’s called a break up because someone feels broken, there’s a disparaging inequality going on, and there’s nothing to hold on to any more.

Shoot me now. Our nature has been plagued by Hispanic sentimentality – we’re different from other asians, in the sense that we can’t just rally on. We just can’t keep on moving forward without looking back. There’s no changing that, It’s just the way it is.

But instead of whining, you need to take a step back, and reduce the break up into singularity. Maybe simplifying a seemingly complex situation will help us to get over it.

It was a break up because – one person misread the other.

It’s as simple as that.

And it will take a long time before I actually “get over” this, but for now, i’m reiterating the “get bitter or get better” mantra. Booking impulsive plane tickets sometimes help. Retail therapy helps. Doing things that you love, and surrounding yourself with positivity definitely helps.

It’s not as bad as breaking up, say, in a FirstBoyfriend type way, but it still hurts in a different way..

Such is life; you either deal with it or you let it consume you. I’m sure you prefer the former.

Like you said, it’ll take time but inevitably, it will be an invaluable experience that will positively guide you as the years roll by.
